Four common cancers linked to infections
In a research study (Lancet Oncology May 2008) using IARC data, researchers found four common infections linked to a large number of cancers: Human papillomaviruses (HPV), Helicobacter pylori, and hepatitis B and C link to 1.9 million cases of cancer.
While the study reports that these infections are rarer in developed countries, air travel makes everybody vulnerable. "Infections with certain viruses, bacteria and parasites are some of the biggest and preventable causes of cancer worldwide," said Catherine de Martel and Martyn Plummer, who led the study.
Cervical cancer accounted for about half of the infection-related cancers that occurred in women, and liver and stomach cancers accounted for more than 80 per cent of the cases in men.
The term ’parasites’ can include parasites themselves (these do not have to be a meter long but can be microbial), viruses, bacteria and yeasts. About 17 per cent of cancers are known to be caused by parasites, the real figure could be even higher, while in some cancers, yeasts are recognized to be a potential problem during modern orthodox treatments.

Parasites are everywhere
In 2016, Dr. Alan B MacDonald found a parasite Borrelia bergdorferi in every one of five brain tumour patients he examined. It is the bacterium which is the principal cause of Lyme Disease.
He has also found nematode worms, eggs and larva in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients.
If you go on holiday to South East Asia, you could run in to some more. Opisthorchis viverrini and Clonorchis sinensis are found in freshwater fish and are linked to cancer of the bile ducts.
All parasites produce chemical compounds, and usually these are toxic, some even carcinogenic.
Clearly, parasites are organisms entering a host and can have dire effects.
