THE REVIEW HALF MARATHON – SUNDAY 11TH JUNE

Thanks1On Sunday 11th June Mandy Sweetman, sisters Claire and Louise and friends Paula and Steven all took part in the Review Half Marathon in St Albans.  Mandy’s daughter Amber (aged 7) took part in the fun run and Millie (20 months) went along to support CANCERactive.

This was the 25th year for this popular event and the atmosphere was fantastic.  A total of £600 has been raised for CANCERactive.

SPONSORED WALK PEN-Y-FAN

in PenOn Saturday 24th June Glyn Hardwick along with nineteen other walkers climbed the heights of Pen-Y-Fan, the highest point in South Wales raising money for CANCERactive. With the youngest walker being 14 months and Glyn (infact the oldest at 54) all joining together to achieve the 5-mile trek. Glyn said, “We all had a very enjoyable day, it was quite a steep climb however the weather was kind and the views at the top magnificent!” Glyn raised a staggering £500 and is hoping to make this an annual event – well done for all your hard work and stamina!!

CONCERT DORSET MALE VOICE CHOIR – GREAT SUCCESS!

We are pleased to report that £900 was raised on Saturday 8th July when the DORSET POLICE MALE VOICE CHOIR AND LIZ FERRIE (well known singer – opera and musicals) gave us an evening of inspiring music and singing. The total amount raised was equally divided between CANCERactive and the World Healing Crusade. Barbara Robinson (event organiser) said “It was a very enjoyable evening for everyone and we were able to give out over 200 leaflets raising people’s awareness of the two charities. We are looking forward to the next time!”

SUMMER TEA PARTY

A big thank you goes out to Patricia Jones who held a Summer Tea Party on Wednesday 2nd August in Harpole, Northants. Over 100 people of all ages attended. An afternoon of fun activities was had by all, including a raffle, tombola, face painting and many others. Patricia had very personal reasons for holding the event – her son Ivor has recently recovered from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and attributed his recovery to the discovery of icon magazine during a hospital visit and subsequently changing his lifestyle and eating habits. In excess of £1000 was raised!!
