Fashion Show

A fashion show was held on Saturday 6th May at Swanbourne House School, Swanbourne, Buckinghamshire. Parents, pupils and staff strutted down the catwalk in aid of CANCERactive and J.E.T raising a total of £7,400.

In addition to the event being totally sold out, a raffle and auction was held, with auctioneer Darren Gough (England cricketer) attending the evening along with "Young Fashion Designer of the Year" Lauren Goddard & her winning collection! Lorraine Hobbs (Event Organiser/Games Teacher) said "What a brilliant evening - my vision was fulfilled! With the support of staff, parents and pupils we created a fabulous and entertaining show whilst raising much needed funds for our chosen charities. I would like to say a big thank you to all involved and for the generous donations received". A fantastic night was had by all. Jacqui Simons our Event Fundraising Manager got into the swing of things by entering and modelling her own collection of clothes!!

A big thank you to Lorraine Hobbs, staff, parents and pupils at Swanbourne School for such a fantastic evening.

Great Edinburgh 10K Run

Peter Adams & Mary Jane Newman completed the Great Edinburgh 10K Run on Sunday 7th May. Peter said "It was quite a miserable day, there was a downpour just as the first ladies group was starting, we seemed to keep dry and cool as we were running. Both Mary Jane and I were hoping to finish in an hour - I finished in 52 mins 30 secs and Mary Jane in 53 minutes 30 secs - not bad considering we both hadn’t done this for a while!".

Well done to both Peter and Mary for running on our behalf, now comes the mammoth task of collecting in the sponsor money!!

Scott Ireland also completed the Great Edinburgh Run in his personal best time of 50 mins 22 secs, having run the race last year in 57 mins 13 secs. This was Scotts first time running for charity and he chose CANCERactive "because I was searching for a worthy charity and CANCERactive just jumped out at me". Scott is hoping to raise £65 for his efforts and is already planning to run again for us in the Glasgow Half Marathon in September!

Thank you to Scott for running and for the support offered from friends, family and work colleagues.

Debbie

The London Marathon

Debbie from Weston Super Mare completed the London Marathon in 4 hours, 47minutes and 25 seconds. Debbie says "well the good news is I did it and I can honestly say I ran all the way! I have been overwhelmed by all the support I have received from everyone and from you all at CANCERactive".

Debbie has raised in the region of £1,000, a big thank you from the CANCERactive team.
