1:
One of the major causes of stomach cancer has now been identified as helicobacter pylori, a bacterium. Acid reflux can often be a sign of its presence.
2:
Helicobacter is also a known cause of stomach ulcers.
3:
Lowered levels of stomach acid as we age, or due to diets that mix carbohydrate and protein (always separate them) allow the bacterium to thrive.
4:
There are drugs to kill the bacterium, or try Goldenseal and bismuth (for example in a brand called Bisodol). But antacids may help it thrive!
5:
Acidophilus and other probiotics will attack this bacterium. remember: They themselves are destroyed by steroids, antibiotics and chemotherapy drugs.
6:
Pickles, excess alcohol and vinegar products are not helpful and Japanese research shows links to stomach cancer.
7:
Burnt food on the barbecue (from flame or smoke) produces nitrosamines in the food, and these are also linked to stomach cancers.
8:
However, nitrosamines can be found in personal care and toiletries (e.g. in some old shampoos).
9:
Inflammation is a common precursor to stomach cancer. Beware constant stomach problems.
10:
Aloe Vera, small amounts of aspirin, or ginger, garlic and omega 3 in fish oils would all appear to be calming and protective.
