Meanwhile, scientists at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge, have developed an imaging technique based on a previously hidden spectrum of light to detect 85 per cent of the cancer tumours not picked up by x-rays, ultrasound or MRI scans. It will also enable tumours to be picked up much earlier.
