Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanning can make a real difference and at least a quarter of all lung cancers (and even in other diseases), saving patients from potentially unnecessary and costly surgery. Sadly the UK has only 5 scanners, all in London. An all-party review committee has urged MPs to support the call for a proper national framework.
