Highland Breast Care Association Inverness

A large group concentrating on Breast Cancer the HBCA provides local non-medical support within the Highlands, often working in partnership with other local and national organisations for the benefit of breast cancer patients. They work in partnership with staff at Raigmore Hospital including the breast care nurses.  Their service includes hospital visits on request and telephone support from volunteer support workers who are all fully trained to offer support and guidance in total confidence. Having experienced the full range of breast cancer surgery and treatments, they provide a service to those who would like to speak with someone with an understanding of some of the issues individuals may be facing.  Regular monthly meetings are held where a range of information, leaflets and books can be accessed. Closed meetings are offered for people in the early stages of treatment to cover the first two years post diagnosis. Open meetings are open to all interested parties including family and friends. These meetings usually include a guest speaker who provides information and advice on many issues relating to breast cancer.
