Green tea seems to lower bad cholesterol

Green tea contains catechin polyphenols, specifically epigallocatechin gallate or EGCG, which is a very powerful antioxidant. Previous research in Cancer Watch has shown positive effects with cancers and blood clots.

Several studies have now confirmed it has the ability to reduce bad LDL cholesterol in the body. Researchers at Western University of Health Sciences conducted 20 trials that monitored blood lipid levels over 4 to 24 weeks and showed consistent results for lower LDL cholesterol levels. In many cases the difference was a five to six point reduction.
