Cancer and Us are a self funding, local support group based within the Salford District of Manchester. Their main aim is to offer practical and emotional support to patients who have been diagnosed with cancer as well as their relatives, carers and friends who are involved in their care. They are a relatively small group with a current membership of about 27 and offers support to anyone affected by the disease regardless of gender, race, religion, age or cancer type. By attending the monthly group sessions, they hope that members become part of an invaluable support network of people, maximising your knowledge, strength and confidence to a level that will enable those affected to move their life forward in a positive direction. A few members of our group regularly attend local cancer related conferences and focus groups, which also helps to keep up-to-speed on the developments within the Cancer Care sector. The group meet on the last Tuesday of every month at St Ann’s Hospice, Peel Lane, Little Hulton, Worsley, Manchester. M28 0FE from 7.00pm - 9.00pm, however during the course of the year they also organise various day trips, ’feel good’ activities and social events.
