Lomustine CCNU

This patient-friendly article is about chemotherapy drug, Lomustine (CCNU) which is used for brain tumours, Hodgkin’s disease and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Like Carmustine it is an alkylating agent that binds with the cancer cell’s DNA and stops the cell dividing. It is lipophilic (fat soluble) and can cross the blood-brain barrier. Lomustine is taken orally as a capsule.

Side effects can include: tiredness, increased risk of infections, flu-like symptoms, anaemia, bruising.
