A group of about 70. The support group has evolved from the successful East Herts Breast Cancer Support Group that has been meeting in the QEII hospital since 1997. Their objective is to continue to offer simply friendship and support, and to extend their reach to all women affected by cancer, whether that be breast cancer or any other cancer. The group has a varied programme of interesting and enjoyable talks, activities and outings all of which provide opportunities to get to know other women who may have had similar experiences and treatments. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of every month, in the Breast Unit of the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City beginning at 7.30pm for refreshments and conversation and, if a guest speaker has been arranged, the presentation starts at 8.00pm. The group is fortunate to have the full co-operation of the excellent Cancer Nurse Specialists who work in the East and North Herts NHS Trust. A Nurse usually attends the meetings to offer support. Membership of the group is free and is run by HCSGW by and for women affected by cancer.
