Welcome to CANCERactive, the UKs number 1 web site for cancer prevention, and possible cancer causes. The Precautionary Principle and Cancer Prevention
What are the causes of cancer? How can you best prevent cancer? Is it too late, now you have cancer, to cut out the cancer causes and drivers? What of Environmental Toxins, like pesticides, asbestos and chemicals? Or EMFs, masts and mobile phones? It cant all be about Diet and Lifestyle, surely?
CANCERactive adopts the Precautionary Principle.
Our definition of the Precautionary Principle is simple: Where there is quality, scientific information indicating possible concerns, or raising threats of increased risks to health, we provide that relevant information and adopt a precautionary stance, even though a full cause-and-effect relationship may not yet be fully and scientifically understood or proven. We believe it is your right to know that expert concern exists.
It may surprise you to know that The World Health organisation states that for most cancers up to 70 per cent are preventable!

We believe that intellegence and information on preventing cancer is vital to your efforts to beat cancer; not merely because knowing the cancer causes may help the adults and children of Britain to reduce their risk of ever developing this dreadful disease, but also because those people currently living with cancer need to have some idea what factors may have contributed to their cancer and indeed what might still, today. be maintaining it.
A 3D approach to cancer prevention
You may feel that most other charities offer a one dimensional approach to cancer prevention - ´It´s all your own fault´.
Well at CANCERactive we acknowledge that there is far more to cancer prevention that eating better, not smoking, drinking less, staying slim and stayting out of the sun as the most cancer charities are wont to tell us all.
The Precautionary Principle demands that we adopt a 3D approach.
You will find our Cancer Prevention Main Features divided under three headings - the three Ds:
- Diet and Lifestyle
- Dangers from environment and toxins
- Disease (from parasites to viruses to yeasts)
On the left you will also find Start to prevent cancer under which there is an introduction on why we feel looking for a definitive cause for cancer is naive. You will also find a number of articles there on preventing cancer, which can be complemented by the section Quick start which features some ´easy to read´ quick guides and lists on the things you can do to prevent cancer. Another heading will take you to some free, dowloadable leaflets for your friends, schools and libraries.
Every little bit helps!!
